If you like flexibility in your bags, the Kelty Hub Backpack may be for you. It begins as a backpack but by simply unfastening a few clips, inserting a couple of straps inside a zippered panel, and swapping them for a longer but thinner strap, its can transform itself into a suitcase.

At 21.5 inches in height, 13 inches in width, and 10 inches in depth, it falls within the FAA-approved size for carry-on luggage, thus you won’t have to part with it when boarding airplanes nor will you have to wait for it at the airport carousel. With these dimensions, it has a capacity of 3,100 cubic inches. If you prefer traveling light, and 2,600 cubic inches is enough for you, it can be zipped up to reduce the 10-inch width to 8.5 inches.

The Kelty Hub has four-point compression straps that pack the bag tightly into a solid pack. There are also top and side handles providing you with additional options of carrying it. There are two pockets at the front of the bag for storing items that you may want to access readily. At the bottom portion are daisy chain attachment points.

An internal compression system also helps hold your things in place. It condenses them in order to accommodate a few more items. There is an organizer panel inside the main compartment, a zippered pocket, a key clip, and a hanging toiletry kit.

For short trips involving air travel, this bag is an excellent companion.

The Osprey Argon 110 is a huge backpack designed to carry as much as 7,100 cubic inches worth of cargo. This can hold everything you need for extended travels and camping trips.

In spite of its large capacity, handling is made easier by the molded back panel, padded waist belt, and dual aluminum stays. The back panel has three panels of ridged foam allowing the free flow of air for better ventilation. The waist belt is made of moldable laminated foam with internal seams. This allows the belt to follow the contours of the wearer’s waist and hips. The aluminum stays greatly improves load transfer from the shoulders to the hips

You can reach into the main compartment either from the top or through a zippered side access. A removable top lid that converts into a day lumbar pack covers the top of the main compartment. It is attached to the main pack with the use of lash-on points. At the lower end of the pack is a wide-mouthed compartment that can accommodate sleeping bags or shoes and sandals. The front has a stretch-woven pocket where you can stash items you might want to retrieve quickly and easily. In addition to this, there is also a zippered pocket on one side and a mesh pocket on the other.

Outside compression straps tightly pack your things to eliminate sagging or distortion of your load regardless of whether the pack is full or not. Inside the pack is an Aqua Source ReCurve hydration sleeve made of 40D Sil nylon for those hot hiking days. Using the sleeping pad straps, this can be converted into an independent hydration pack.

This lightweight backpack, weighing slightly less than five pounds, has a main compartment with a carrying capacity of 65 liters. This means that you can bring along as much clothing and gear that you need if you want to travel the seven seas.

The main compartment is top-loading and is closed with a drawstring inserted at the edge of a gusset. An adjustable top lid that also provides extra storage sits atop the gusseted closure to provide additional protective cover.

At the front of the pack is a sleeping bag compartment. This is separate from the main compartment and can be access from the front. There are also front pockets and webbing daisy chains which can hold plenty of accessories. Mesh pockets on both sides of the pack are intended to hold High Sierra’s 1000 ml hydration reservoirs. These are useful when going camping. Attached to the backpack strap is another pocket for your cell phone, MP3 player, or GPS gear.

The ERGO-FIT shoulder harness is made of Vapel™ mesh Airflow™. It has adjustable load lifters and is equipped with thick foam padding. Two aluminum frame bars support the pack. These can also be adjusted to the contours of your back. And to keep it cool and dry, the molded-foam back panel includes Airflow™ channels. The waist belt which distributes the weight of the load is, like the harness, also made of Vapel™ mesh Airflow™. To further help in the stabilization of the load, an adjustable sternum strap is provided.

A rain cover that can be tucked away comes with this 32 x 14.25 x 8.75-inch backpack. This will not only keep the rain out, but also thieves when riding in public transport. For the colors, you choose black, or a combination of black and tungsten with either pacific blue or chipotle.

The “85″ in the name of this backpack refers to its capacity of 85 liters. It is a large pack, sized 73 x 36 x 25 cm, allowing you carry enough clothes for an extended travel, perhaps even a world tour. Notwithstanding its size and capacity, it has several features that help lighten its load. Its Adjustable Advance Back Harness System can be fine-tuned to your most comfortable fit.
Victorinox designed the Trek Pack Plus 3.0 with the needs of women in mind. Their generally slenderer shoulders require shoulder straps that are closer to each other. Their shoulder and back contours are also different from that of men, and this necessitates a different curvature for the straps. This is exactly what Trek Pack provides.

The padded shoulder straps are complemented by a lumbar support belt the helps transfer some of the weight of the pack to the legs. These are also padded and designed to fit a woman’s hips.

Trek Pack Plus is not only a backpack. It has 80-mm wheels and a telescopic pole with which to pull it along if you feel you need to rest your back. The wheels are strong enough to withstand bumps and craters on the ground, and with a 360° swivel grip handle on the pole, you won’t worry about twisting your wrist out of action.

With a capacity of 4,700 cubic inches, the Trek Pack offers plenty of room for your clothing and souvenirs you pick up on your travel. The main compartment is front loading making access easy and straightforward. At the lower end of the bag is a separate compartment with its own outside access where you can store a sleeping bag or a pair of shoes. This avoids soiling your other stuff.

A detachable day pack, with its own shoulder straps, can be used as an independent bag. This is great when you don’t want to have to carry all of your things when taking a day tour in the city or a hike in the mountains. It has padded back panels for a comfortable carry, and moisture wicking mesh to keep your back dry even in warmer climes.

The Rick Steves Convertible Carry-On is a very versatile bag. You can carry it as a suitcase with either the handle on its top, or the one on its right side. You may also choose to carry it as a shoulder bag with a single long strap provided for the purpose resting on one shoulder. Or, you may opt to use the two air-mesh lined curved shoulder straps and padded waist belt to carry it on your back. You don’t have to worry about having too many straps and belts hanging from the Convertible Carry-On. If you are using it as a suitcase, you can tuck the shoulder straps into the back panel.

The bag is made of high-density polyester that is water-resistant. It has three outside pockets for items you want to access quickly, such as a map or a digital camera. There is also one large side pocket that can accommodate a laptop. Inside the bag is a security pouch which you can use to store valuable and important items. This pouch is detachable so you can keep it on your body or in a safer place if available.

The main compartment provides a generous 2,500 cubic inch space for your clothes. In case this is still not enough, you can expand it to 3,500 cubic inches by simply pulling on a few zippers. It is fully opened from the front which makes packing and unpacking simple and hassle-free. It includes two compression straps that help keep your things compact and close to your body when carried as a backpack, and thus stabilizing your load. These are complemented by four external straps.

The bag measures 21 x 14 x 9 inches, the largest size that is acceptable as a carry-on luggage among airlines. Your choice of colors are black, spruce, and copper.

This Kenneth Cole luggage has three carrying modes. It has a rubber top handle that you can use to hold it by one hand, padded shoulder straps to carry it on your back, and a set of in-line skate wheels and a retractable handle bar to drag it along.

This carry bag/backpack/wheeled luggage is made of 1680D polyester exterior making it durable and resistant to water absorption. In addition to this, it also features a jacquard trim. The bag is constructed as a single gusset. It is fully lined and has a large capacity.

The main packing area of the bag is roomy and can easily accommodate clothing for a two to three day-travel. You can even throw in a couple of books for in-flight reading. Packing and unpacking is convenient because the U-shaped zipper opening allows you to access the bag through the front instead of through the top like some backpacks. To keep your shirts and pants from moving around inside the bag, garment restraints are installed.

At the front of the bag is an organizer that includes several pockets –one for your cell phone, pens and pencils, credit cards, and two extra pockets one of which is zippered and the other open. There is also a removable key fob. This organizer is secured by a zipper that runs along a U-shaped trail. In case you need a quick access to the contents of the bag, a front side zipper pocket is provided.

The bag measurers 21 inches high, 13.75 inches wide, and 9.5 inches deep. Because of the materials used for its construction, the bag weighs only 5 pounds and 12 ounces.

If you like the convenience of a hands-free backpack but also feel that real travel luggage is made of leather, the David King Leather 330 Top Handle XL Backpack is for you. This is a large pack ideal for both city and country travelers.

This elegant bag, measuring 11.5 inches in width, 15.5 inches in height, and 5.5 inches in thickness is a versatile gear that you can carry either by hand with its top handle, or on your back with its adjustable, padded shoulders straps. Carrying it with the top handle means quicker access to its contents, while lugging it on your back frees your hands for other things, like taking pictures.

The main compartment provides enough room for clothing and toiletries. This is closed with a leather drawstring and is covered with a top flap that is secured with a magnetic closure. Under this flap is a gusseted front pocket. Here you can keep your PDA, maybe a few books or notepads. There are also penholders in there for your pens or pencils. The flap itself also has a map pocket closed by a zipper.

The sides feature even more pockets, two on either side. An open pouch is above a gusseted zippered pocket. The open pockets can hold water bottles and packed snacks while your cell phone or iPod would be more secure in the closed ones. The back of the bag has another zippered compartment. Inside is still another closed pocket for your small valuables.

This backpack is made of full grain vacquetta cowhide leather. It has been tanned to lock in the leather’s natural oils. This results in a soft yet durable bag guaranteed not turn brittle or crack with normal use. Choice of colors is black, café, or tan.

Perhaps one of the best features of the Eagle Creek Thrive 90L Backpack is its full front panel load which makes packing simple and stress-free. Often, top-loading backpacks require you to unload everything to access an item packed at the bottom. The Thrive 90L eliminates this problem.

Another great quality of the Thrive 90L is that it is actually two backpacks. It has a modular daypack that is easily attached to or detached from the main pack with a clipping system that also offers carry options for it. You can carry your audio system in its fleece-lined pocket intended for electronic equipment. It also has a passport pocket, a key fob, and a pen slot.

A detachable Rain Safe cover comes with the backpack just in case you run into wet weather while on travel. This way, you are assured that you will always have dry clothing to wear.

You can pick up your Thrive 90L from whichever of its sides you want to as it has multiple carry handles. It also has exterior side pockets for small items you might want to be readily accessible. For bigger items, you can use the lash points. Compression straps are incorporated both inside and outside to help you pack more items.

The suspension system features a removable X-Frame that supports the back and distributes the weight of the pack. This is made of HDPE frame sheet and pre-curved T-6061 aluminum stays that are aircraft grade. It also has a MicroAdjust™ system that allows you to adjust its height according to your torso length. Air flow on the back to keep it cool is promoted by a Ventalite™ Mesh and 3D foam build. The shoulder and sternum straps are ergonomically contoured for a relaxed fit. The easily adjustable hip belt helps in transferring the load from the shoulders to the legs.

When you only have to travel for two to three days, the North Face Skareb 55 Backpack is all you need to pack all your clothes, footwear, and toiletries.

The Skareb 55 is available in three sizes which allows for optimal fit. Dimensions for the small size are H 24 X W 14 X D 6 inches, medium is H 26 x W 14 X D 7, while large is H 28 x W 14 x D 7. With these sizes, the small backpack has a carrying volume of 50 liters; the medium, 55, and the large, 60.

There are two padded pockets on either side of the backpack with water-resistant zippers. The main compartment is equipped with interior mesh divisions that help organize your things. It can even be expanded by simply pulling at zippers protected by a zipper garage. There is also a quick-pull front cord for compressing your pack.

The Skareb features split shoulder harness that is contoured for proper fit. To help carry and stabilize your load, an active-cut contour hip belt is included. A direct-inject lumbar zone that does not slip keeps the backpack in its correct place. A breathable E-VAP foam at the back panel keeps your back cool and minimizes sweating. The roll-top closure safely stows your things and carries small items in an accessory pocket secured by a zipper. There are carry handles at the top, sides, and bottom. At the top is also a supplementary bag attachment consisting of Hypalon/webbing strap.

Inside the backpack is a lightweight aluminum X-2T suspension with 7075 aluminum stays. The interior structure is of honeycomb design making the backpack solid yet lightweight. Fabrics used in its construction are a combination of the following: 70D ripstop nylon, 210HT ripstop Cordura nylon, and 420HT nylon.
