If you like flexibility in your bags, the Kelty Hub Backpack may be for you. It begins as a backpack but by simply unfastening a few clips, inserting a couple of straps inside a zippered panel, and swapping them for a longer but thinner strap, its can transform itself into a suitcase.
At 21.5 inches in height, 13 inches in width, and 10 inches in depth, it falls within the FAA-approved size for carry-on luggage, thus you won’t have to part with it when boarding airplanes nor will you have to wait for it at the airport carousel. With these dimensions, it has a capacity of 3,100 cubic inches. If you prefer traveling light, and 2,600 cubic inches is enough for you, it can be zipped up to reduce the 10-inch width to 8.5 inches.
The Kelty Hub has four-point compression straps that pack the bag tightly into a solid pack. There are also top and side handles providing you with additional options of carrying it. There are two pockets at the front of the bag for storing items that you may want to access readily. At the bottom portion are daisy chain attachment points.
An internal compression system also helps hold your things in place. It condenses them in order to accommodate a few more items. There is an organizer panel inside the main compartment, a zippered pocket, a key clip, and a hanging toiletry kit.
For short trips involving air travel, this bag is an excellent companion.
